An Evening of World Dance

Saturday, March 17th, 2018 at 8:00 PM

A kaleidoscope of Denver’s uniquely creative female artists come together to explore the excitement and grace of movement – from modern and contemporary ballet, to samba and beyond. Immerse yourself in the joy of dance, as emerging and established choreographers work with trios of talented dancers to celebrate the diversity and dynamism of our community.

Right after the show, we’ll be holding a brief talkback with the audience, to help encourage dialogue around dance. Our choreographers want to know how their work makes you feel in the moment!

Learn more and meet the artists.

Tickets $20 for adults, $18 for students, seniors and military personnel.

Parking at the 7th Street Garage (next to the King Center) is included with your ticket purchase to the Evening of World Dance event.

Dance Master Classes

Sunday, March 18th, 2018 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM

A New Athena Project Event

This year, for the first time, we’re thrilled to offer master classes in various dance styles, suitable for all levels. Treat yourself and learn something new!

Meet the choreographers.

Tickets $20 for one class, or $50 for a three-class bundle. PLUS, when you reserve your place in a Master Class, you get an exclusive discount code for our Evening of World Dance!

Master Class Bundle

3:00 PM – Contact Improvisation with Gwen Hunter Ritchie
In Gwen’s wonderful class, you’ll spend some time tuning in to your senses and the internal space of your body, readying yourself to move mindfully. You’ll enjoy community building exercises that foster trust, receptivity, and responsiveness, within yourself and your classmates. The class environment will nurture personal movement styles, body awareness, clear presence, and the ability to give and receive weight and energy between two or more bodies in space.

4:00 PM – Modern Dance with Cindy Brandle
Cindy’s class combines eastern and western philosophies, with vigorous, extended mixes of movement inspired by the idea that motion travels from the inside out.

5:00 PM – Samba with Kebrina Josefina de Jesus of Samba Colorado
Experience the exhilarating and healing art of Samba and Afro-Brazilian dance! Be prepared to sweat, and enjoy what the Brazilians call Axé, meaning ‘soul’ or ‘good vibrations’!
